Problems of the Quaternary geomorphology of the Xixabangma region in South Tibet and Nepal in Quaternary of the Karakoram and Himalaya.
During the Quaternary, Mt Xixabangma has been progressively uplifted and denuded by rivers and glaciers, and by the effects of periglacial conditions. The balance between these agents differs greatly on different aspects of the massif, as do
the resulting landscapes. This complicates the interpretation of Quaternary tectonic and climatic history. The A. tries to clarify the succession of the glaciations and presents a critical summary and review of the Chinese work.

Quaternary volcanism in the Mediterranean region was highly explosive, especially in the Roman-Campanian province, the Aeolian Islands and the Hellenic island arc. Pantelleria and Etna were less explosive. Tephra layers originating from all
of these volcanoes have been encountered in Quaternary sediments. A summary of tephra layer occurrences in the Mediterranean Quaternary record is given in this paper. Correlation results and petrographic characterization techniques are described.

Cliff-height and slope-angle relationships in a chronosequence of Quaternary marine terraces, San Clemente Island, California
A flight of Quaternary marine terraces provides a framework for quantitative analysis of abandoned sea cliff modification as a function of time. The relationships are weaker than for stream terraces and fault scarps in unconsolidated materials
but the method can probably be used successfully to distinguish early, middle and late Quaternary fault scarps or sea cliffs in consolidated materials.
