Description :
In this study deposits formerly mapped as moraines and outwash have been re-examined in detail, with particular emphasis on morphological and sedimentological characteristics. The results suggest that de Terra and Paterson misinterpreted the origin of many of the deposits, particularly those mapped as moraines. Many of these have been reinterpreted as products of mass-movement. Evidence suggests that there were no more than two major phases of ice advance in Kashmir. This example illustrates the influence of tectonic uplift on reconstructed palaeoglaciation patterns.
