Auteur :SUNDBERG, J.
Description :
A. explores how different conservationist groups are engaged in a discursive struggle for control of the Maya Biosphere Reserve and its natural resources. Her fieldwork there revealed that certain individuals were appropriating conservationist discourses, which are treated as the unvarnished truth, to reposition themselves in relation to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), which are prominent social and political institutions in the Reserve. Farmers, forest collectors, and recent immigrants in the Reserve are discussed. - (SLD)
