This study was carried out on an older terrace of the Allier river where attention was focused on the infiltration rate. The spatial variability of infiltration rate was investigated, using geostatistical methods. The application of the sequential t
Deep infiltration through a sandy alluvial fan in semiarid Niger inferred from electrical conductivity survey, vadose zone chemistry and hydrological modelling

For this study, the water balance of the fan was computed at the rainfall-event scale through the 1992-2002 decade, thus providing consistent values of annual surface water loss by infiltration. From this set of data, a hydrological functioning

Soil CO2 concentration and microclimatic parameters were measured at a primary forest and grassland in dry season (August to September 2003) and rainy season (March 2004) in central Amazonia in order to investigate the effects of infiltration

In this paper, the AA present results on spatial variation in infiltration in croplands on the volcanic soils of Mt. Elgon. Infiltration tests were carried out with a double ring infiltrometer and 3 measurements were taken at the upper, middle
and lower sections of each experimental site. In addition soil information was collected on each experimental site. Based on the results, the AA. examine the spatial variability of infiltration, the relationship of infiltration to landscape position
, and the influence of soil composition on infiltration rates on the slopes. The factors affecting spatial variability of soil infiltration were analysed using correlation and regression techniques. Steady state infiltration rates generally increased with the slope

Results of an infiltration experiments involving loess soils from different, major loess regions of the Northern Hemisphere (i.e., Northwest Europe, North America and Asia), which are highly erodible and for which sealing susceptibility and reduced
infiltration would substantially affect soil erosion processes and soil loss. The objectives are 1) to determine rain infiltration, and 2) to determine the sealing susceptibility of those soils and to relate qualitatively their differences to specific

Soil crusting is a crucial factor for runoff generation in the Tabernas Desert badlands; however, very few methods have been developed for the measurement of infiltration in crusts, which are often distributed on steep slopes. The AA. have used
the trickle irrigation (TI) method and mini-disk infiltrometers (MDI) in the laboratory to measure steady infiltration rate under nearly saturated condition and tensions, respectively, in soil crust samples removed from the field. The results suggest
that the TI and MDI methods may be potentially a useful lab measurement for approximating field infiltration rate.
The aim of this experiment was to determine the influence of runoff depth on infiltration rate in the presence of a surface seal varying in hydraulic characterisrics with microtopography. Two soils, a Blosseville (Pays de Caux) silt loam
and Villamblain (Petite Beauce) silty clay loam were collected from the A horizon. The results provide a suitable explanation for field observations of increasing infiltration rate with either increasing rainfall intensity or runoff rate.

The aim of this paper is to test if relationships exist between directly measured soil water repellency, and the spatial and temporal variation in infiltration capacity and runoff generation on burned and unburned microsites within coarse-textured
sagebrush dominated ecosystems. The most significant impact of fire was canopy and ground cover removal on coppice microsites. Fire-induced reduction in infiltration resulted from the combined effect of canopy and ground cover removal and the presence

This study was conducted to determine whether increased pedogenic development of the Av (vesicular) horizon over relative time impacts the hydraulic properties of individual soil peds and the mechanism of infiltration as inferred by dye patterns
. The AA. examined peds from the Av horizons associated with desert pavements that mantled 3 different alluvial deposits developed in the Mojave Desert (California) with different relative surface ages. The results suggest that infiltration through Av
