Development of anastomosing channels in south central Indiana

Auteur :
MILLER, J. R.

Description :
Examines the development of several anastomosing channels tributary to the Ohio River in south-central Indiana. This paper shows that : 1) anabranch development is associated with avulsion; 2) the spatial distribution of anastomosed stream segments is controlled by the lithology and stratigraphy of underlying bedrock; and 3) avulsion may locally occur along downcutting stream channels.
