Dans le cadre du projet de l'Union Européenne PACE (Pergélisol et Climat en Europe), différents levés géophysiques ont été réalisés afin de déterminer les structures internes et la distribution du pergélisol de montagne : séismique réfraction, résistivité DC, radar pénétrant le sol (GPR), induction électro-magnétique, radiométrie, température à la base de la couverture neigeuse (BTS). Cet article donne une vue générale préliminaire des progrès réalisés.
