Description :
The Căpăţinii Mountains lie in the middle region of the Southern Carpathians in Rumania. Their rocks are very varied in type. From the geographical point of view the mountain can be divided into four parts (according to the A.). The biggest part of the mountains are the main ridge. The E-SE part is called Muntii Olăneştilor, it is made up mainly of detritic sedimentary rocks. The most interesting part is the massif called Buila-Vînturariţa. It is made of Jurassic limestone. Piatra Tîrnovului on the NE edge of the mountains is also made up of Jurassic limestone. It is much smaller in area than Buila-Vînturariţa Massif. - (ZK)
