Littoralization is marked by developmental duality : concentration of economic activities and population in coastal areas and depopulation, ageing and weak employment opportunities in the hinterland. Littoralization in Slovenian Istria was studied by a set of socioeconomic indicators of settlements along the four cross-profiles. The population structure indicated that littoralization in Slovenian Istria is changing its spatial character, so three types of developmental areas can be defined. - (IKR)
