Application of the method of spatial statistical analysis known as the geographically weighted regression (GWR) in identifying the factors affecting emergency calls. The study began with a formulation of hypotheses on the basis of the available literature. In line with the procedures applied in GWR models, a global correlation analysis was carried out in regard to the OLS regression model before spatial autocorrelation was performed in order that local GWR models could be formulated. This was all done with consideration given to the spatial heterogeneity of the phenomenon under study. The results obtained allow the usefulness of the geographically weighted regression in relation to factors contributing to emergency medical calls to be established. The GWR model can serve as a valuable source of information from the point of view of medical policy as broadly conceived. – (BJ)
