This article identifies the most important factors shaping the future of geography in Poland where the investigative, organisational, educational and practical spheres are concerned. The issues raised and discussed are used as a basis for a depiction of Polish geography around a decade from now, with several options for the shaping of this outlook in the upcoming years also supplied. Worthy of note among the conclusions arrived at are the maintenance of academic and institutional links between physical and human geography, the ongoing polarisation of the academic centres within geography, departures of the most gifted scientists for the leading centres and the increasing significance of the discipline when it comes to practical applications. – (BJ)
