The study is conceived to find a balanced approach to the reclamation processes of the spoil heaps in the former coal mining area of Pécs and of a slurry reservoir. The authors emphasize the relationship between the quality of surface waters and land use, because the relative impact of the growth of vegetation on the water quality are yet to be examined and quantified. - (AM)
