Description :
During last 100 years a lot of various indices evaluated thermal impact of environment on man were developed. Most of them have not any relations to physiological response of human organism. The last years bring new generation of the human heat balance models, so called multi node models. They consider all mechanisms of heat regulation in the human body. Basing on Fiala multi node model new Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) was developed in the frame of COST 730 Action. The paper presents methodological background of an index, problems regarded preparation of input data and principles of UTCI interpretation. - (BJ)
