La perception des divisions internes en République Tchèque

This paper deals with the most important internal territorial divisions on the territory of today’s Czech Republic (Czechia), where the term “most important” relates to a feeling, perception or view among the Czechs themselves. The perceived divisions uncovered are then set against their counterparts in Poland. In line with the above criteria, the most important divisions in the Czech Republic are found to be: capital v. periphery, cities v countryside, the “Sudetenland” border area that was German pre 1945 v the Czech interior, alongside individual cultural-historical regions, administrative units and units based around religious differences from one part of Czech territory to another. – (BJ)
