The present article is an attempt to evaluate the recurrent changes within the structure of Słupsk outlying districts considering ownership structure, size structure of farms, soil initiatives that lead to limiting the scale of unemployment thanks to creating new jobs. The research shows that between 1988 and 2000 the described districts experienced development of new economic initiatives that resulted in the multifunctional evolution of rural areas. The 1990s were the time of large-scale investments established in the outlying districts of Słupsk. Another important issue discussed in the present article is infrastructure development in rural areas. - (BJ)
