Bonham C. Richardson was honored for his scholarship in the historical geography of the Caribbean. His studies began with a Master's thesis in 1967 on coastal communities in Guyana and a dissertation in 1970 on the rice culture of coastal Guyana. Since then he has conducted fieldwork throughout the insular Caribbean. His major monographs are discussed. He is now a Professor of Geography at Virginia Tech. - (SLD)
