Three principal aims are pursued in this paper : 1) assessment of the accuracy of SPOT imagery in mapping drainage networks and bodies of surface water| 2) specifying which type of SPOT image is most useful for this purpose| and 3) specifying
the season of the year in which SPOT imagery gives maximum hydrologic information i.e. assessment of SPOT for multitemporal hydrologic mapping.
Mapping NOAA-AVHRR imagery using equal-area radial projections
The advantages of registering NOAA-AVHRR imagery to the world graticule of latitude and longitude using equal area radial projection are described and illustrated with Normalized Vegetation index imagery.
L'imagerie géostationnaire offre l'énorme avantage de fournir des observations répétitives et cohérentes de l'atmosphère et des surfaces sous-jacentes. Son évolution est illustrée par une description du potentiel de l'imagerie des satellites
Based on imagery and experiences from areas influenced by the last Scandinavian ice sheet (Weichsel), the potential use of satellites (Landsat) for imaging large-scale glacial accumulations, especially marginal deposits, is discussed. The ability
of satellite imagery to bring consistency in apparently disperse terrain elements and to visualize landscape systems because of its wide overview is pointed at. The possibility of getting information on marginal features in less known and remote areas
L'A. étudie les possibilités offertes par l'imagerie satellitaire Indienne dans le processus de révision de la cartographie nationale à l'échelle du 1/50 000. L'imagerie IRS/1C a été utilisée au cours de cette étude. Les différentes étapes de ce
In this paper, the AA. synthesize the state-of-the-art in the use of VHSR remotely sensed imagery for forest inventory and monitoring. Based upon this review, they develop a framework for updating a sample-based, large-area forest inventory
that incorporates VHSR imagery. Using the information needs of the Canadian National Forest Inventory (NFI) for context, they demonstrate the potential capabilities of VHSR imagery in 4 phases of the forest inventory update process : stand delineation, automated
Shelf sea fronts'adjustements revealed by satellite IR imagery
IR imagery from NOAA5 has been used to study the movement of shelf sea fronts. After the elimination of tidal advection, the fronts show remarkable consistency of position and do not adjust to the strong semi-monthly variation in tidal stirring
Land-use classification using high resolution satellite imagery : a new information fusion method ; an application in Landau, Germany
Bavaria ; Classification ; Germany ; Land use ; Multispectral analysis ; Remote sensing ; Satellite imagery
This thesis presents an information fusion method for improving the accuracy of land-use classification based on high-resolution satellite imagery. The method integrates spectral, spatial, and structural information existing in the image. It has
