This study intends to explain fishing space of main fisheries at Choshi Fishing Port, which is one of the leading bases for offshore fisheries in Japan. Fishing space consists of fishing grounds, operating sea areas and headquarters of fishing boats
The spatial structure consists of an inland space, a marine space and a port space functioning as a node to combine the former two spaces. Since these spaces are interrelated or combined by the movement of people or materials, fishers' daily
movement is then examinated. With fishing grounds shrinking in size, those along the coast have become important. Local fishers utilise them, and this has caused fish resource management problems. On the other hand, recreational activities play an important
role in the usage of the port and the fishing grounds.

Towards a sustainable economy for the Shetland Islands: Development and management issues in fishing and fish farming

As well as the development of oil from the 1970s there has been the other major economic innovation of fish farming. The direct employment provided by the oil industry is exceeded by the fish-related industries. The islands have now to look more
to fish-related employment for their future. Fish farming has a notable effect in distributing employment throughout the islands. Fish processing is mainly in central locations.
Assessing potential effects of global climate change on tropical freshwater fishes
Asia ; Biogeography ; Climatic variation ; Ecosystem ; Fish ; Fresh water ; Global change ; Tropical zone
The extreme seasonal fluctuations in discharge of tropical rivers, through the effects on fish habitat availability and habitat conditions, have produced a range in preferred habitat types among riverine fishes. The AA. suggest that initial
assessment of potential effects of climate change on tropical freshwater fishes should focus on changes to water quantity variables in riverine environments.
Bestimmungsgründe und Elastizitäten der Nachfrage nach Fisch und Fischwaren in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. (The determinants and elesticities governing the demand for fish and fish products in the Federal Republic)
Using a time-series analysis based on the annual overall economic data for the period 1961-1980, a quantification is made of the influence of important economic variables on the demand for fish and fish products in the Federal Republic. (L'A.).
Thule fishing revisited : the economic importance of fish at the Pembroke and Bell Sites, Victoria Island, Nunavut
Archaeology ; Archeological site ; Arctic Region ; Canada ; Fauna ; Fish ; Inuit ; Nunavut ; Subsistence economy ; Victoria Island
The AA. report on 2 faunal assemblages which provide a new perspective on the issue of fishing in the Thule period. These sites, Pembroke and Bell, are situated on southeastern Victoria Island in the region historically occupied by the ‘Copper Inuit
’ who are known to have relied on fish to a significant degree, but whose annual subsistence-settlement cycle was notably different from their Thule ancestors. Following description and interpretation of the 2 faunal samples, the AA. consider the sites
importance to the broader understanding of the role of fish in Thule economies.
