The aim of this study is to better understand the basin morphology of endorheic river basins by using well-known geomorphological properties and their variations across scales. For 3 basins in northern Chile the AA. computed the following
descriptors and the corresponding relevant scales : the cumulative distribution of contributing area, the horizontal shape of the basins (i.e. Hack's law, normalized Euclidean length, and sinuosity of the streams), slope–area relationship, Horton's ratios
and drainage density. They detected several properties typically found in open basins, but certain features which seem to be unique to closed basins were also identified. In particular, they found that horizontal and vertical geomorphic features seem
to be linked, which suggests that an independent treatment of these features may not be appropriate for closed basins. Similar results were found regardless of the basin area, which illustrates the relevant effects of features that are specific

A study was conducted on water allocation modeling of Awash River Basin, Ethiopia, using MODSIM, a river basin management decision support system (DSS) designed as a computer-aided tool for developing improved basin wide planning. This study
was conducted to analyze the water balance of the Awash Basin under different levels of irrigation development and also determine the water allocation in the Upper, Middle and Lower Valleys in the basin. Awash Basin includes Koka Dam and 2 dams under completion
: Kesem and Tendaho Reservoirs. Analysis of flow records within the basin was done for 1963–2003. Simulation was conducted on 4 scenarios. Consumptive and non-consumptive uses were considered in allocation modeling. The results of MODSIM model depict
The aim of this study was to elucidate the influence of the mine wastes in the district of Linares (Jaén, Spain) on the quality of the soil, the surface water and the groundwater. For this purpose, a sedimentary endorheic basin in the mining
district was selected as the study location : the Quaternary Garza basin. The characterisation of the basin geometry and the tailings dams in the area was conducted by electrical resistivity imaging (ERI), which was supported with data provided
by mechanical probing. The ERI data indicated that the basin is bounded by fractures that cause sudden changes in the thickness of the sedimentary cover and the wedging of the layers toward the edges of the basin. Furthermore, results confirmed the absence
The biggest relief transformations in the Wałbrzych Basin took place in 2 valleys : Wałbrzych and Kuźnice. The anthropogenic relief in that area contains forms typical of coal mining areas, such as : subsidence basins, dumps and settling ponds
. In the Wałbrzych Basin the transformations of natural relief features were more substantial than in the Kuźnice Basin. Anthropogenic relief of the research area has structural character - it relates to the structure of the substrate of the Wałbrzych Coal Basin

The presence of transhipment services in a region has been analyzed relative to ports and shippers with no consideration to the geographical factors of the sea basin serving the region. The AA. hypothesize that attributes related to basin morphology
also should be considered, as the processes involved in the maritime container freight market are comparable to processes in other transport markets. They show that transhipment services are relevant in those regions with closed sea basins.

The aim of this work is to understand the landscape shaping processes operated along the Lower Guaçu Basin from Upper Pleistocene to Holocene and how these processes were influenced by the regional paleoclimate and fluvial geomorphology, using
for the area. The results pointed to climatic variations during Pleistocene and Holocene periods. Neotectonics might have played a relevant role as well, not only in the Mogi Guaçu River Basin, but also in the Paraná Sedimentary Basin.

Basin modelling of temperature and heat flow distributions and permafrost evolution, Urengoy and Kuyumbinskaya areas, Siberia
The thermal history and permafrost evolution in the Urengoy area of the West Siberian basin and in the Kuyumbinskaya area of the Siberian platform during the Pliocene-Quaternary were reconstructed numerically in a forward model from 3.4 Ma using
the software package FROST, part of the basin modelling system GALO. Calculations suggest that variations in rock composition with depth strongly influenced permafrost evolution. The effect of cooling is greater in the Kuyumbinskaya area, which has a thinner
