This paper overviews the distribution, magnitude, recurrence interval, and age of large submarine slides on volcanic islands and their potential for the generation of mega-tsunamis during the Quaternary. This paper also discusses the geomorphic

The remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) Hercules and Argus of O.E.T. (Ocean Exploration Trust) were used to explore the slopes, summits and craters of 17 of the 19 submarine volcanic centres identified on multibeam map of the areawith E/V Nautilus
(NA007) in August 2010. In this paper the AA. present some of the most interesting submarine morphological features along the Kolumbo Volcanic Chain, located in a small, elongated, rifted basin northeast of Santorini Island, Greece.

A high resolution seismic study in the northern Sicilian basin, between Cape Milazzo and Aeolian Archipelago emphasizes the connection between the sicilian metamorphic basement and the volcanic body. The sedimentary cover includes two units
: the well developped sedimentary sequence of Sicilian origin and the reduced Aerolian volcanic sequence. The volcanic sedimentary unit is affected by a series of slides| the partial denudation of the volcanic cone can explain the preservation of the initial

Volcanic ocean islands grow into irregular shapes because of eruption along radiating volcanic rift zones, caldera collapse, slope failure, coalescence of adjacent volcanoes and marine and subaerial erosion. With the aim of searching for variations
The paper gives the solution of the volcanic islands slope geometry problem which has been obtained within the scope of a mathematical model developed on the basis of the hypothesis by G. F. Becker. The latter assumed volcanoes to be bodies of equal
strength (resistance). The suggested equations describe the volcanic constructions profiles as a function of their height, craters' radius and the volcanic rock properties. The computer calculations results were used to construct theoretical contours
of volcanic islands. Possible causes of terrace formation on the islands slopes are also discussed, as well as conditions of collapse caldera formation. - (L'Ed.).
Discussion des résultats géochimiques et géochronologiques.

The Tokaj Mountains differ from the other volcanic mountains of Hungary by strike, heavy dissection, (a younger) age of volcanism, a great diversity of volcanic rocks, paleogeographic circumstances (frequent marine transgressions). The paper deals
with the volcanic forms in detail, with their types, with erosional and derasional valleys and their development. - (ZK)
