Late Quaternary vegetation of southern Isla Grande de Chiloé, Chile
Chili ; Chiloé ; Diagramme pollinique ; Géographie de l'Amérique ; Holocène ; Paléo-environnement ; Paléoclimat ; Quaternaire ; Végétation
The change from open to forest vegetation (12,500 yr B.P.) probably represents the most pronounced climatic change in the record and can be interpreted as the glacial postglacial transition in the study area.
- (C. Risi).
It appears that in the sparsely vegetated Mojave Desert, the C13/C12 of pedogenic carbonate is controlled by differences in plant density and biological activity. This relationship may provide a tool for assessing past vegetational densities
, as long as the vegetation is isotopically homogeneous.
Mass movement effects on grassland vegetation and soils on Santa Cruz Island, California
Association végétale ; Biogéographie ; California ; Ecosystème ; Etats-Unis ; Géographie physique ; Habitat ; Mouvement de masse ; Prairie ; Propriété du sol ; Santa Cruz Island ; Sol ; Versant ; Végétation
The purpose of this study is : 1) to identify the changes in surface soil properties due to mass movement disturbances, and 2) to investigate the patterns in grassland vegetation distributions associated with such heterogeneity.
The clearing of the Illawarra rainforests : problems in reconstructing pre-European vegetation patterns
Action anthropique ; Australie ; Colonisation européenne ; Déforestation ; Ecologie ; Environnement ; Forêt ; Forêt tropicale ; Géographie de l'Océanie ; Géographie historique ; New South Wales ; Siècle 19-20 ; Végétation
Vegetation communities and the empty pore space of soils as indicators of catchment hydrology
Simulation of solar zenith angle effect on global vegetation index (GVI) data
- (CB)
Aircraft MSS data registration and vegetation classification for wetland change detection
- (CB)
Fossil pollen, charcoal, loss on ignition and lithology are used to reconstruct the past 3,000 years of vegetation history in this area. Through that period, araucaria has withstood the effects of landscape catastrophe. - (DWG)
Electromagnetic scattering from layer of finite length, randomly oriented, dielectric, circular cylinders over a rough interface with application to vegetation
- (CB)
Action anthropique ; Afrique du Sud ; Albédo ; Cape Province ; Couvert végétal ; Géographie physique ; Radiation ; Végétation
Human disturbance of the natural vegetation significantly increases the surface reflectance, whereas different undisturbed vegetative covers did not record significantly different reflectances. - (AJC)
