The article shows some aspects of the temperature climate in a valley and its surroundings at Maze on Finnmarksvidda, where three meteorological observation stations have been in operation since the autumn of 1981. The stations are situated
at the bottom, on the side and at the top of the valley, as a part of a local climate project in connection with the building of the Alta hydroelectric power plant with its dam downstream Maze.
Palaeochannels and recent changes in the Pulmankijoki valley, northern Lapland
The aim of this work was to describe the geomorphology of the Pulmanskijoki valley and to explain the age of palaeochannels by C14-dating. The article also describes recent changes in the valley : the cut-off of the neck of a meander-loop
The influence of debris flows on channels and valley floors in the Oregon Coast Range, U.S.A.
The A. presents a field study of the erosional and depositional characteristics of debris flows and their influence on alluvial channels and valley floors.
European part of USSR ; Geological structure ; Tectonics ; Valley ; Volga
The tectonic control is discernible in the spatial regularities and morphology of valleys in the southern part of the Privolzhskaya Upland. The spatial characteristics include the location, direction and width of valleys. Main morphological
indicators of geologic structures are an asymmetry in valleys' crossprofile, alternation of steep and flat sections in the longitudinal profile, terraces distortions, local incisement, channels'alignment of meandering, steppic or swamped valley bottoms
. The valleys characteristics most fully reflect regional linear deformations, such as flexures, fault and fold zones and old tectonic scarps. Local anticline are identified with confidence. Large tectonic regions are reflected in the valleys network less
Morphological development of dunes in a subarctic environment, central Kobuk Valley, northwestern Alaska
The morphology of the dune fields is described by airphoto interpretation supplemented by field observations. Dune forms indicate that both present-day and former wind directions are parallel to the valley axis. Therefore it is proposed that wind
The geoecology of subalpine heaths in the Abisko Valley, northern Sweden. A study of periglacial conditions.
The purpose of this study is to study the processes, both active and inactive, which influence the formation, structure and distribution of subalpine heaths in the Abisko Valley and to compare their ecotope with the adjacent birch forest.

Early Holocene Pecan, Carya illinoensis, in the Mississippi River valley near Muscatine, Iowa
This paper reports on a radiocarbon-dated fossil pecan encountered during archaeological and geological study of the Mississipi River valley between Burlington and Muscatine, Iowa, and discusses the fossil pollen record to clarify the Holocene
The chronology and stratigraphy of the alluvial terraces of the River Dane Valley, Cheshire, N. W. England
The aim of this paper is to elucidate the chronology of development of a series of fluvial terraces within the valley of the River Dane, Cheshire. Using morphological, sedimentological, and stratigraphic evidence, phases of river activity
Ground temperature variations in a subarctic mountain valley, Abisko, Northern Sweden
Studies of the ground temperatures and hydrological conditions at four sites on a subalpine heath and in the birch forest in the subarctic valley in Abisko from 1984-87 show that a clear relationship exists between ground temperature and climatic
Morphogenetic classification of river valleys developing in formerly glaciated areas for the needs of mathematical and physical modelling in hydrotechnical projects
This paper deals with proposals of natural models of river valley evolution useful for physical and mathematical modelling in hydrotechnical projects. Such models are known from investigations of numerous valley reaches of the Wisla (Vistula) River

Mandenvlechters en Mezcalstokers in Mexico. Het belang van de rurale nijverheid in de bestaansstrategie van huishoudens in de Tlacolula Vallei, Oaxaca. Basket weavers and producers of Mezcal in Mexico. The importance of rural industry
in the livelihood of households in the Valley of Tlacolula, Oaxaca
The objective of this paper is to present evidence for a different age for the lava and the associated soils, based on the amount of pedogenic carbonate in the soil that buries the lava, on dated volcanic ash that occurs upstream along the valley
, and on the postulated time of valley entrenchment.
This paper is in reality a research on the drainage basin of the Tutova river and concerns with the landforms and geomorphic processes. The valley is located in the Moravian Tableland, in conditions of homoclinal structure, with weak, rocks (sand
and clay), of Sarmatian and Pliocene ages. The A. discern three types of landforms : structural landforms (high plateaus, subsequent valleys and cuestas), sculptural landforms (hills, versants), that lies on over 90 % of the drainage area and are affected
