Morphometry and morphodynamics of the lower Vistula channel mesoforms
The objective of this study is to determine the morphometry and morphodynamics of the prevailing mesoforms of the lower Vistula channel, i.e. unsteady movement of load. In view of the fact that these forms are the resultant of load movement
intensity at a definite time interval, the Vistula load balance can be estimated.
Geological section across the holocene sediments in the northern and eastern parts of the Vistula deltaic plain in Evolution of the Vistula River Valley.
Chronostratigraphy and datations of the sediments in the Vistula deltaic plain showing the evolution of the marine transgression. Reconstruction of the environmental elements and of the hydrological regime.
The changes of lower Vistula channel caused by human impact is discussed. The problem of XIXth century regulation works and Vistula channel daming at Włocławek is presented. The morphodynamic of the sand bars (mesoforms) on the different developed
reaches of lower Vistula (unregulated, regulated, downstream from the Włocławek dam) are introduced. On the basis of literature and own studies carried out in the lower Vistula channel, the hydrology of mesoforms constructed. The bed-load balance
of investigated reach of Vistula channel computed. - (DG)
Evolution of the Vistula river valley during the last 15.000 years. Part 5
The next collectionof papers on the evolution of Vistula and tributary valleys includes synthetic reviews on various reaches: Vistula near the junction with Raba (by P. Gębica), lower Dunajec (by T. Sokołowski), middle reach of Wisłoka (by L
. Strakel), transversal gap of the Middle Vistula (by W. Pożaryski and T. Kalicki) and lower reaches of several tributaries of the Lower Vistula (by L. Andrzejewski). There are also detail sedimentological and palynological studies on two lateglacial
paleomeanders in the upper Vistula valley (by T. Kalicki and V.P. Zernickaya) and lower Wisłoka (by L. Starkel and W. Ganoszewski). Two other papers by T. Kalicki and M. Krapiec from Wisłoka valley discuss the importance of endrochronological method for dating
Anthropogenic changes in the suspended load transportation by and sedimentation rates of the river Vistula, Poland
Anthropogenic impact on water conditions (Vistula and Oder river basins)
Evidence is presented that regulation works on the Vistula channel have introduced very significant and rapid changes in the magnitude of river load transportation and sedimentation. It is acknowledged that human interference represents the most
significant cause of change in the Vistula catchment within historical times. The alluviation of the Vistula valley floodplain as described here, which was initiated about 150 years ago, may be compared with the equally rapid changes of load transportation
The evolution of the Vistula river valley between Cracow and Niepołomice in late Vistulian and Holocene times
Evolution of the Vistula river valley during the last 15 000 years, part IV
This is a new synthesis of the evolution of the section of the Vistula river valley. There are changes in the channel patterns and parameters, sedimentological characteristics of the different alluvial deposits of different ages, the reflection
Selected problems on Polish-Russian cross-border cooperation based on the example of the Vistula Lagoon
Cooperación económica ; Economía regional ; Espacio transfronterizo ; Laguna ; Polonia ; Rusia ; Vístula
This paper presents selected problems on Polish-Russian cross-border cooperation based on the example of Vistula Lagoon (historical, political and economical background, environmental factors, relationships after May 1st 2004, when the boundary has
The structure and age of the Drwień depression interrupting the Vistula flood-plain east of Cracow (South Poland)
Flat-floored depressions without traces of paleomeanders occur frequently on the Vistula flood plain within the Sandomierz Basin. One of this, the Drwień depression extends along the southern Vistula valley side between Cracow and Niepołomice
. In the depression survived channel deposits laid down by the braided Vistula during the Late Glacial. In the western part the sandy-gravel deposits underlie a thin layer of peats in the eastern part the Younger Dryas and Preboreal channel deposits occur. Since
Subboreal « black oaks » identified from the Vistula alluvia at Grabie near Cracow-South Poland)
may be related to the phase of increased activity of the Vistula 3 200- 3 000 BP. The black oaks (Quercus velutina) from Grabie have an evidence of mechanical damage connected with the ice-jam floods. - (DG)
Dynamics of shallow groundwater temperature in the Vistula abandoned valley, the P ock basin
Identification and description of shallow groundwater temperature dynamics down to the depth of 3 m in sandy-gravelly deposits of the Vistula abandoned valley. For the purpose of establishing relationships between groundwater temperature and air
Changes in the middle course of the River Vistula in historical times
An attempt is made to reconstruct the sequence of change in part of the Middle Vistula valley between the 11th and late 20th centuries, using historical methods. The most detailed analysis was possible for the changes of the last 250 years
Structure of the solute yield in the Vistula river basin with special regard to anthropogenic components
Anthropogenic impact on water conditions (Vistula and Oder river basins)
concentrations from data for the years 1976-1985, and mean discharges of river waters. For 20 selected larger catchments of the Vistula tributaries the AA. also calculated the total solute yield, i.e. including the sources of municipal and industrial wastewater
Black oaks and Subatlantic alluvia of the Vistula in the Branice-Stryjów near Cracow
Evolution of the Vistula river valley during the last 15 000 years, part IV
. There are the floating chronologies of black oaks (Quercus velutina) : 2 200-1 830, 1 230-1 030, 930-670 BP and the stumps hewn by man. Deposition of the fallen trees may be related to the phases of the increased activity of the Vistula. - (DG)
Evolution of both the Vistula floodplain and lateglacial-early Holocene paleochannel systems in the Grobla Forest (Sandomierz Basin)
Evolution of the Vistula river valley during the last 15 000 years, part IV
Detail geomorphological and sedimentological characteristics of well dated alluvial fills of the Vistula river downstream of Cracow with the Younger Dryas braided pattern and late―Atlantic abandoned meanders, followed by the avulsion of the river
The role of blocks of dead ice in the deposition of late glacial sediments in a large valley : A case study from the Vistula river valley in the Grudziądz basin, north Poland
The paper describes the processes associated with sediment deposition in the presence of large blocks of dead or stagnating ice. The study examines a large valley depression in the Grudziądz Basin (lower Vistula Valley) which formed part of the area
The problem of the bifurcated flow of the Vistula River of Fordon (Bydgoszcz) against the background of the evolution of the Toruń basin at the end of the Plenivistulian
-textural research of the deposits forming the terraces near Bydgoszcz and those near the Vistula River gap of Fordon, reference was made to the problem of the genesis of this river gap. The results of the research suggest that the bifurcation phase
of the Vistula River was shorter than has been assumed. - (BJ)
