The aim of this study was to verify the role of the microbial processes for the seasonal fluctuation of methane fluxes from tundra environments. The analysis included measurements of seasonal methane fluxes and environmental parameters as well
as the quantification of methane production and oxidation under in situ conditions within the active layer of permafrost soils, in a typical polygonal tundra in the Lena Delta, Siberia.
