This small town is situated between the rivers Verde and Aventino. The river Verde favoured the rise of small mills then transformed into industries for pasta. Although the development of this industry did not create a remarkable induced economic
activity, it allowed the growth of small factories which absorbed not only local manpower but also that of the close towns.
