- The pattern and magnitude of the Pleistocene glaciation in the Sudetes is clearly controlled by the pre-existing, preglacial topography. The simultaneous occurrence of 3 factors is considered necessary for a mountain glaciation to develop
- The aim of this paper is to review existing information about weathering mantles in the Sudetes and the Sudetic Foreland and to evaluate their usefulness in the evolutionary approach to the origin of the Sudetic topography. The observed diversity
- primarily reflects long-term differences in tectonic and geomorphic stability of these 2 areas, accentuated through time. Moreover, weathering mantles are used to strengthen the argument for etched origin of many facets of Sudetic topography.
