- Variability of the tide at some sites in the Canadian Arctic
- Various techniques are used to detect the possible distortion of the tide by the presence of an ice cover at some gauging sites in the Canadian Arctic. Some stations are apparently unaffected, while those around the periphery of Amundsen Gulf
- and Hudson Bay experience larger tides during the annual period of open water and the time of arrival of the tide is altered.
- Determination of the land uplift from old water marks and tide gauge data at Ratan and Lovgrundet/Bjorn, Sweden
- Old water marks (the oldest from 1731) are combined with more recent tide gauge data at Ratan and Lovgrundet/Bjorn in Sweden in an analysis of the land uplift. The study shows that the hypothesis of a significant change of the uplift rate
- at the beginning of this century cannot be verified. Furthermore, the tide gauge data does not support a decrease of the uplift rate.
- Secular trends of relative sea-level (RSL) changes indicated by tide-gauge records
- Divergent trends of secular sea-level changes are shown by 229 tide-gauge stations with long enough records. No region of the world can be said stable, even on the tide scale of a few decades. Tectonic and oceanic factors are more important than
- The tides of the planet Earth
- The salinities of tide water and sediments from the northern and the southern sectors of the coastal marshes are compared. In the north, Bay water of relatively high salinity is introduced to the marsh by tides, as is generally found in coastal

- Recent advances in understanding of sand movement in the surf zone provide a basis to discuss future directions of research. Problems exist in relating sediment flux and landform responses to waves, tides, and currents despite improved acquisition
- The A. shows how risky are the continental translation theory and the earthcrust expansion one. In compensation, the lunar origin of the Pacific, evident according to the A., and the evidence of marine tides on the early Jurassic shores
- eroding events are noted, resulting from particular wave, wind, tide combinations. The spatial variability in dune scarping is associated with vegetation and soil development, and slope failures range from granular avalanches to retrogressive rotational
- energy waves occurring at low stages of the tide.
- The flank margin model presented here invokes a water-mixing mechanism to explain rapid development of caves of unusual morphology in the Bahama Islands. The mixing of discharging freshwater with tide-pulsed incoming marine water under the flank
- -level forecasting has been set up and satisfactorily applied to practical problems such as the discharge of rivers and the continuous surveying of movement of the ground from a tide gauge alone.
- There have been analysed the sea level time series for the ports of Puntarenas and Limon (Costa Rica) by means of the application and the comparison of Doodson's classical harmonic method for the analysis of tides and Mosetti-Carrozzo, 1971-1972
- that other (dynamic) factors, such as seepage and local tides, in fact control the initial time-depth position of Lower Peat growth.
- The natural forces that influence the geomorphology of the Wadden Sea area are wind and climatic factors, the tides and biological factors. Although the Wadden Sea as a whole and in the long run is a rather stable environment, local conditions can
