Results of electrical resistivity surveys performed on ten rock glaciers in the southern Alps, in the summer of 1986. The conclusion that these rock glaciers are essentially inherited forms, testifying the passage of recent cold periods
, is confirmed by the discovery on three sites of rock glaciers with a heterogeneous structure, a thawed central part and an accumulation of ice at the snout. It suggests that the rock glaciers in the southern Alps were formed, for the most part, during

The aim of this paper is to analyse the spatial heterogeneity of soil surface characteristics (SSC) in the case of a vineyard (Hérault province, SouthernFrance) in order to propose an adequate sampling strategy. The spatial heterogeneity of SSC
The southern border of the Paris Basin has undergone successive weathering events during the Tertiary. Fluviatile and lacustrine deposits are scattered, being mainly confined to several North-South trending grabens. These are generally devoid

Early formation of gnammas (weathering pits) in a recently glaciated area of Torres del Paine, southern Patagonia (Chile)
The gnammas were located on the granite blocks of a lateral moraine deposited during a Late Holocene neoglacial advance. They were measured for maximum and minimum depth, length, and width in addition to other observations, in the Francés Valley
of Torres del Paine. Based on these measurements, the surface area and the volume of the gnammas were calculated. Finally, the Francés Valley population is compared with an older gnamma population to discuss the significance of the results for gnamma

The main aims of this paper are to define linkages and discontinuities; to outline their importance; to suggest how they might operate in both natural and anthropogenically modified landscapes, through case studies in the Durance River in southern
France (in a part of Mediterranean landscape, on a floodplain segment and along of the main channel).

Landscape and birds are an important cause of blocking wind power projects. This paper investigates in the South of France the question of whether birds and wind power can be part of a same landscape and what type of landscape this could compose

The southern French Prealps are sub-Mediterranean mountains in which forest cover has increased since the end of the 19th century. Forest development, linked with agricultural decline and planned reafforestation, has induced a decrease of bedload
