In order to test the time-transgressive Holocene Optimum model in southern China, a 4-m core was taken from the Dahu Swamp, Jiangxi, for high-resolution chronological, pollen, and other proxy studies. The results indicate that the Holocene Optimum
occurred between ca. 10,000 and 6000 cal yr ago in southern China, consistent with the global pattern.

This paper analyzed the anomalous low-temperature events and the anomalous rain-abundant events in January since 1951 and winter since 1880 for southern China. The AA. aim to analyse the atmospheric circulation features associated with the anomalous
events, especially to focus on the circulation conditions when there exist anomalous low-temperature and rain-abundant events simultaneously. It is showed that there is more precipitation in southern China during El Niño winters, and less precipitation
during La Niña winters; and there is no clear evidence that the occurrence of anomalous temperature events in winter over southern China is closely linked to ENSO events.

A Holocene loess profile to the west of Xi'an China was studied multi-disciplinary to investigate the relationships between soil erosion and monsoonal climatic change. The proxy data obtained from this aeolian loess and palaeosol sequence indicate
large-scale variations of climate in the southern Loess Plateau since the last glaciation. It enables a reconstruction to be made of monsoonal climatic change and the pedogenesis of cinnamon soils under aeolian dust deposition of variable rate. It also
offers insights into soil erosion and deposition on the loess tablelands in the southern Loess Plateau since the last glaciation.
