The soils of the North-Eastern part of Friesland have been described. Soils have developed on Holocene marine clay deposits, on till of Saalian age and cover sands of Weichselian age. Parts of these Pleistocene deposits were covered by Holocene peat
. Subsequent reclamation left peat and sandy soils. The historical development and usability of the soils are indicated. (AIS).
