In this paper the AA. explain the characteristics of chemical constituents in a 10 m summer ice core and a 1.7 m winter snow/ice core which were recovered at Austre Brøggerbreen, Spitsbergen, in September 1994 and in March 1995, respectively
. The chemical effect of meltwater percolation through snow/ice is examined.
