The morphological consequences of paraglacial modification of valley-side drift slopes are investigated at 6 sites in Norway. Here, paraglacial slope adjustment operates primarily through the development of gully systems, whereby glacigenic sediment
is stripped from the upper drift slope and redeposited in debris cones downslope. This results in an overall lowering of average gradient along gully axes.

Flared slopes are concave slopes thought by some to be created by subsurface weathering followed by stripping. The AA. believe that concave slopes may also be formed by subaerial weathering, and that the retreat of such slopes creates rectilinear
footslopes. Such rectilinear slopes have also been related to flared slopes. The same landforms have been used in the past to illustrate both modes of formation, as illustrated by various examples including Ayers Rock and Hyden Rock in Australia
. The combination of concave and rectilinear slopes may produce convergent landforms that can be formed by different processes.

An examination of 189 well-delineated mounds and pits in sandy soils of northern lower Michigan, all presumably formed by tree uprooting, was used to determine the effects of slope angle on morphology and volume, and to assess the potential
importance of uprooting to mass movement. Data indicate that mound and pit volumes increase with increasing slope angle, suggesting that on gentle slopes more of the disturbed soil wastes off the mound, back into the new pit.

In a series of computer simulations the question is treated: what is the impact of spatial differences in infiltration on long-term slope development? The computations suggest that different slope profils can be created under ensystemic conditions
not pnly by process-specific charakteristics but also due to differences in infiltration. For example, a convex sllope profil is formed, if there is declining infiltration along slope length. Increasing infiltration downslope results in a concave slope
profile whereas constant infiltration yields a more or less rectilinear slope profile.
