The mammalian assemblage and archaeological finds from the Lower Paleolothic hominidsite of Evron Quarry, situated on the northern coastal plain of Israel, are described and discussed. The mammalian faunule from Evron comprises a biogeographical
mixture, a result of biotic exchanges with Africa, the Oriental region, and the Palaearctic. This exchange may have been associated with a post-'Ubeidiya hominid dispersal, either from Africa or south Asia via the Levantine corridor.

This paper reports U-series dates on speleothem samples from Localty 15 at Zhoukoudian, one of the richest Paleolithic sites in northern China. The AA discuss their implications for human physical and cultural evolution. The results are in line

The Thomas quarries near Casablanca (Morocco) yielded the remains of several fossil hominids, ascribed to Homo erectus, associated with a stone industry and a relatively rich fauna, the most diversified of the whole Moroccan Pléistocene. A detailed
study of the fauna is given. The fauna seems to indicate the occurrence of two different environments near the sites: an open savannah and a more broken, rocky, and perhaps more wooded, area near the shore.

The well-preserved pedogenic sequence for the last glacial-interglacial loess deposits, located near Liujiapo village, provides a framework for reconstructing the regional environments of hominid occupations on the north slope of the Qinling

U-series analyses have been made of travertine samples from the archaeological site at Ehringsdorf-Weimar. The lower Travertine, in which hominid remains were found, yields apparent ages from > 350,000 to 200,000 yr.
Hominid occupation of the east-central highlands of Ethiopia in the Plio-Pleistocene
Stone artefacts and fossil evidence suggest that hominids did not reach the high plateau of Ethiopia until1.5 Myr ago. Contact between hominids of the plateau and the Rift Valley seems likely.
