In this paper, the AA. demonstrate the use of land-based seismic-reflection profiling in the central Chesapeake Bay region and provide some limited geochronologic control on the seismically defined paleochannel units of the region.
Seismicreflection investigation of Kalamalka Lake : a fiord lake on the Interior Plateau of southern British Columbia
The purpose of this paper is to present the results of a detailed seismicreflection investigation of Kalamalka Lake. This new data base considerably extends current knowledge of the Pleistocene subsurface geology of southern British Columbia
by establishing the extent of overdeepening of the bedrock surface and the substantial thickness of the overlying sediment cover. The AA. also integrate subsurface seismic data with the existing regional outcrop data base and discuss their implications for process
High-resolution seismicreflection evidence for middle Holocene environmental change, Owasco Lake, New York
Atmospheric circulation ; Climatic variation ; Geophysics ; Holocene ; Lacustrine sediment ; New York State ; Palaeo-environment ; Quaternary ; Seismicreflection ; United States of America
This paper presents new results and interpretations of a recent (1998) decimeter-resolution seismicreflection profile survey of Owasco Lake, one of New York's Finger Lakes. These new data allow for further refinement of the seismic stratigraphy
In the Larderello geothermal area, reflectionseismic lines show a poorly reflective upper part and a highly reflective lower part. The top of the lower part is marked by a high amplitude reflector, named the K-horizon, which has local bright spot
features determinated by fluid occurence. The K-horizon often bounds a facies with strong convergent and divergent reflections and lozenge-shaped geometry. - (NF)
Lake-level reconstructions and paleohydrology of Birch Lake, Central Alaska, based on seismicreflection profiles and core transects
Alaska ; C 14 dating ; Cold area ; Holocene ; Insolation ; Lake ; Lake level ; Palaeo-environment ; Palaeoclimate ; Palaeolimnology ; Palaeomagnetism ; Palynology ; Seismicreflection
Lake-level history during the late Pleistocene and Holocene for Birch Lake, Alaska, was reconstructed using seismic profiles and multiproxy sedimentary analyses including sedimentology, geochemistry, magnetic susceptibility, and palynology
Anomalies sismiques au-dessus de cavités. (Seismic anomalies above underground cavities)
Seismic phenomena related to underground karstic voids were discovered by a high-energy source associated to an analogical-digital system. The seismic signals include diffraction, reflection, echo, and anomalies in the frequencies and amplitudes
of the active Mt. Pettino master extensional fault (hereafter PEF) which controls the tectono-sedimentary evolution of western L’Aquila Basin. The investigations were mainly based on a seismicreflection profile orthogonal to the fault strike in its hangingwall
Following the April 6 2009 L’Aquila earthquake, a great effort has been carried out for seismic microzonation purposes of urban areas in order to evaluate the seismic potential of the main active faults of the epicentral area. This is the case
. The seismic profile was interpreted by comparison with the geological outcropping data and the stratigraphic analysis of numerous boreholes, several of which reached the pre-Quaternary substratum. The main goals were double : (i) to improve the integrated
geological-geophysical subsurface model for the evaluation of the local seismic amplification and (ii) to estimate the PEF seismic hazard through the study of the sedimentary infill evolution and the tectonic subsidence of the PEF hangingwall which were
strictly interrelated with the PEF seismic history. - (NF)
The results of deep seismicreflection exploration in the central mediterranean region (CROP Project) provide basic insights into the driving mechanism of the Tyrrenian-Apenines arc-trench-back system. In particular, such information clearly

Through analysis of high resolution seismic-reflection profiles, this paper addresses the middle to late Quaternary history of sedimentation of the Ventura shelf and associated glacioeustatic sea level fluctuations, and it constructs a chronology
Stratigraphy of Georges Bank. Bassin: interpreted from seismic correlation to the Western Scotian Shelf
D'après les profils de sismique réflexion, la corrélation de cinq horizons réflecteurs majeurs a été établie entre le S.-W. de la plate-forme de la Scotia et le George Bank. (E. Bonnet).
Here two commercially-acquired seismicreflection profiles are used to establish the structure and stratigraphic relationships between the frontal part of the orogenic belt, the foredeep and foreland regions in the offshore continuation
of the Apennine system in the northern Ionian sea. Given the proximity of this study area, the tectono-stratigraphic relationships imaged on these seismic lines are likely to provide good analogues for Neogene basins and depositional systems for much
The detailed analysis of more than 12,000 km of high resolution reflectionseismic profiles has shed some new light on the morphology of the erosion surface at the top of the Tertiary substratum in the Belgian and northern French sectors
Bathymetric surveys, side-scan sonar and seismicreflection data reveal the presence of a hummocky sea bottom extending from Krakatau towards the N, NW and E, which the AA. interpret as the surface of the debris-avalanche deposit related
, seismic interpretations of 2 new seismicreflection profiles and borehole logs allow better consolidation of the geometry and evolution of the Tuscan Nappe boudins in this region.
