Comparison of the marine oxygen isotope record, the eustatic sea level record, and the chronology of glaciation in the United States of America in Quaternary glaciations in the Northern Hemisphere.
Finnish supra-long tree-ring chronology extended to 5634 BC
Dendrochronological crossdating was used to expand a pre-existing multi-millennial tree-ring chronology for Finnish Lapland. Twelve tree-ring series from sedimentary archives of five small lakes contributed to the oldest part of the chronology
, extending the record to 5634 BC (previously 5520 BC). An attempt to unveil the palaeoclimatic conditions during the earliest years of the chronology is performed. The AA. discuss the factors that may influence further extension.
Chronology of late Wisconsinan glaciation in middle North America
We propose a chronology of late Wisconsinan glacial fluctuations in middle North America, from Alberta to Wisconsin, based on radiocarbon dates derived solely from wood. Previous chronologies of the southwestern margin of the North American
Continental Ice Sheet have depended to a considerable degree on radiocarbon dates from fine-grained organic sediment. This material is commonly contaminated with older carbon, resulting in chronologic confusion. By using only dates from wood, much
Characterising the Namaqualand Mudbelt of Southern Africa : chronology, palynology and palaeoenvironments
The preliminary findings of recent palynological and chronological analysis of the Orange River mudbelt material. This reveals aspects of environmental, vegetation and climatic change in the South African interior and may provide a better
The use of tree-ring chronologies to show spatial and temporal changes in an air mass boundary
Correlation of tree-ring indices and objectively defined regional climate series shows that winter season variables do contribute significantly to the variability in growth. Changes in the chronology membership in the regions imply changes
Chronology of Holocene vertebrate extinction in the Galapagos Islands in XIII INQUA Congress issue.
Eleven conventional and 15 AMS (accelerator mass spectrometer) radiocarbon dates establish chronologies for nine Holocene vertebrate fossil sites in the Galapagos Islands. A Holocene fossil record approaching 500,000 bones, more than 90 % of which
The study aims to review the causes of river terrace evolution, as well as, its chronology and the alternating mechanism that occurred during formation periods, called terminations. Based on data collected and published during decades of terrace
research the A. attempts to outline the evolution and chronology of Hungary’s terrace system. - (AM)
Late Quaternary earthquake chronology from luminescence dating of colluvial and alluvial deposits of the Arava valley, Israel
This study uses infrared stimulated luminescence (IRSL) and TL techniques to obtain numerical ages for fault-related sediments in the southern Arava. These ages give a more accurate chronology and mean recurrence interval for large earthquakes
Stratigraphy, chronology, and paleoenvironmental reconstruction of the Quaternary sedimentary infilling of a volcanic tube in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands
of this work is to report the results of their stratigraphic and chronologic study and to point out how they have recorded paleoenvironmental changes during that period.
Lake-level chronology on the southern Bolivian Altiplano (18°-23°S) during Late-Glacial Time and the early Holocene
In this paper, the AA. propose a revision of the radiocarbon chronology in the southern Bolivian Altiplano (Uyuni-Coipasa basin) based on a comparison between radiocarbon and Th/U disequilibrium methods performed on the same samples.
U-series chronology of lacustrine deposits in Death Valley, California
This paper reports the chronology as established by the uranium-series dating on a core drilled from Badwater Basin in Death Valley. To assess the source of uranium in these lacustrine deposits, the AA. have also analyzed uranium and its isotopic
