The Baikal riftvalley, the central segment of the Baikal rift zone located in southern East Siberia, consists of two large depressions separated by an interdepressional uplift. The interdepressional uplift consists of subsiding residual steps
and active tilted horsts. The large dimensions of the Baikal riftvalley are evidently due to its being confined to the faults striking NE-SW.

It is suggested that transform faults have, by faulting, exposed more fractioned types of basaltic rocks (may be as intrusives) than the riftvalley volcanics. While aseismic ridges have undergone a greater degree of differentiation than both

A general riftward younging of surficial volcanic units is a feature of the Addis Ababa sector of the Ethiopian riftvalley. The narrowing of the volcanic zone with time in due to crustal necking and topographical control.

RiftValley fever is a disease of animals and humans found throughout much of Africa, and recently in the Arabian Peninsula. It is spread via mosquito vectors and direct contact with infected tissue and fluids. This progress report reviews the key
research literature on climate-driven environmental change and RiftValley fever. The roles of regional and seasonal climates for the disease are emphasized, as well as remote sensing and other approaches to monitoring and analysis. The paper concludes
-Daban with volcanic plateau. This rift may be as a morphotype of dry rift basin of the Baikal type (riftvalley) because it has a full set of their typical structural elements and their unified forms. Relief of the rift and its mountain surroundings
The Tunka rift consists of a system of baikal type basins and low-mountain interbasin ridges separating them. In the north it is surrounded by the alpine Tunka ridge and the low Olkha upland, and in the south by the siberian mountains Western Khamar
are composed of five belts: the belt of plains and the belt of tilted piedmonts, the apical belt, the belt of slopes, and the belt of valley bottoms in its mountain frame. Instead of them there is a large group of interzonal land forms.

Caractéristiques des terrasses des vallées de l'Irkout et d'une série de ses affluents dans différentes situations morphotectoniques : dans l'encadrement montagneux du rift, dans les limites du fond des dépressions et des contreforts de montagnes

This study aims to detect the youngest surface ruptures in the southern Arava Valley and to subject them to paleoseismologic analysis in order to further constrain the recurrence intervals and magnitudes of prehistoric earthquakes in this region

in the Central RiftValley of Kenya. Species representation in the assemblage is consistent with a drying of the RiftValley lakes in the middle Holocene and suggests a decrease in forest accompanied by expanding grasslands near the site. Changes in the abundance

Analyse des fortes averses orageuses qui constituent au moins les trois cinquièmes des précipitations annuelles dans un secteur semi-aride de la RiftValley du Kenya, pratiquement sous l'équateur. - (JPB)
