Based upon an empirical research (a questionnaire survey) carried out among social geographers of different countries at the turn of 2013 and 2014, the main purpose of the article is to demonstrate the major characteristics and conditions
of scientific qualification and the evaluation of scientific performance in different countries from social geographical aspect. The importance of publications and citations is also discussed in the judgement of academic performance. - (AM)
