The proposition that pediment slope is related to debris-size is shown to be flawed. This notion was examined on 15 traverses on rock-cut pediments in the southern Hijaz region of western Saudi Arabia. Complete particle size analyses
of pedisediments were obtained and the moments used for pair-wise comparisons with down pediments changes in pediment slope. It is shown that simple comparisons of standardised regression coefficients are misleading and a formal test is introduced.

-equivalent systems in Makhtesh Ramon; evaluate the main factors controlling the development of the morphological systems, and attempt to calculate the rate of pediment formation. Makhtesh Ramon can serve as a natural model for a more general understanding
of pediments.

The Quaternary geomorphological evolution in Africa is characterised by the occurrence of several pedimentation cycles. In tropical climates with a short dry season and with highly and deeply weathered soils valley floor pedimentation is active
and results in the formation of a relief in half oranges and flat valley bottoms. In a mountainous or a hilly relief so-called hillslope pediments may be formed. During the pedimentation process clay is transported as silt and sand sized micro-aggregates.

Laboratory analyses of the erosion surfaces below the gravel cover attest that the pediments were formed in an arid morphoclimatic environment with selective weathering and erosion. It is not possible to connect the pediments levels across divides
and to construct a regional correlation pattern. Climatic or tectonic eksystemic changes of a cyclic nature would have affected the entire region in a similar direction, but in some areas of pediment concentration the A. finds two, in others three different main
pediment levels. Eksystemic changes of climate or tectonic activity are not the only possible causes for alternations of pedimentation and dissection.

Pediplains are formed by the coalescence of pediments, but the nature of the component pediments and the size of the area covered have not been specified. Three types of pediments of similar morphology but of different structure, distribution
and perceived origins, have been described. Mantled pediments of etch origin are the most widely distributed and examples now lacking a backing scarp are recognized. Selected Australian regions are considered as possible as examples of pediplains. Areas
of regional extent with prominent mantled pediments but also significant areas of upland and alluviated plains are differentiated from pedimented landscapes in which scarpless mantled forms are dominant. Many suggested pediplains are also inselberg landscapes.

Bükkalja is the southern pediment of Bükk Mountains. According to the geographic literature this area is divided into two pediment (geomorphic) levels. Using the methods of quantitative geomorphology, the Bükkalja pilot area was examined

Les pédiments, considérés comme des surfaces lisses en pente douce constituant le front d'escarpement en recul, sont des formes épigènes façonnées par les eaux courantes, et fortement représentées dans les régions arides et semi-arides. Beaucoup de
pédiments à couverture autochtone se sont formés au pied d'escarpements granitiques en recul. Sur de nombreux sites, le ruissellement diffus a décapé le régolithe et exposé le front d'altération au niveau des pédiments rocheux raccordant des lignes de crêtes
à des plateformes rocheuses. Ces pédiments rocheux présentent alors des formes d'altération chimique de 2ème ordre qui expliquent à la fois 1) l'occurrence de pédiments à couverture autochtone et de pédiments rocheux au-delà des zones arides des
moyennes latitudes et 2) la mise en évidence de formes de relief résiduel ou d'inselbergs dans de vastes plaines pédimentées.
