The paper provides an analysis of government support for organic farming in Ireland. Varying levels of encouragement and programmes are provided to farmers in their conversion from conventional to organic production, and in their maintenance
of organic production. It investigates relevant technical, financial, and policy support available to organic farmers. As an exploratory study, it develops an assessment of Ireland within eight key categories of organic agricultural support.

This article examines the question of geomorphic self-organization in the context of broad-scale, long-term landscape evolution. Geomorphic perspectives on self-organization are first briefly reviewed. Then, the necessary and sufficient conditions
for a self-organizing geomorphic system are outlined. Examples are examined. Finally, two broad classes of landscape evolution, the cases of increasing and decreasing relief, are shown to differ fundamentally with respect to self-organization.
