- This 5 volumes encyclopaedic study of India's North-East is the result of the Author's 11 years of service in the region. It studies the diversity of the North-East (ethnics, racial, religious, linguistic, size, historic and geography). If India
- is microcosmic world, the North-East is microcosmic India. 213 communities are indigenous to the North-East, among which 111 languages are found in Arunachal Pradesh alone. It is the home to 325 spoken languages. Assam State, with a population of 39 millions

- Preliminary studies of soils in North-East Greenland between 74o and 75o northern latitude
- This paper gives the results of the 1991-reconnaissance based on the geography of soils, in north-east Greenland, from the outer coast to the interior of the ice-free land area. Well-drained soils show a characteristic sequence determined
- by the east-west climatic gradient. Fossil soil characteristics and secondary formed features supply information on the palaeoclimate.
- Range shape and range elongation of North American trees
- Biogeography ; Climatic zone ; Ecology ; North America ; Plant species ; Regression analysis ; Spatial distribution ; Taxonomy ; Topography ; Tree
- The A. investigates the relative range elongation, with respect to maximum north-south distance and maximum east-west distance, of 269 North American tree species. These data provide evidence that species with smaller ranges tend to be elongated
- north-south and species with larger ranges tend to be elongated east-west. This pattern is likely a result of species with small ranges being limited by local north-south-trending topography and species with large ranges being limited by major east-west

- A preliminary study on climatic anomalies in East Asia and sea surface temperature in the North Pacific
- Composite maps of precipitation in East Asia for the wet and dry summers, June + July, were compared respectively with the composite maps of SST for the same months and with those for the preceding December, January and February. Same approach
- was made for the warm and cold winters. Secular variations of these climatic anomalies in the six regions in East Asia are discussed in relation to SST in the Pacific. - (SGA)
