Radiocarbon geochemistry of modern and ancient Arctic Lake systems, Baffin Island, Canada
The accuracy of Arctic lake chronologies has been assessed by measuring the C 14 activities of modern carbon sources and applying these isotopic mass balances to dating fossil lake materials. Radiocarbon measurements of components of the lacustrine
and interpreted using modern pollen spectra. The comparison of fossil pollen sequences with modern pollen provided information about changes in the composition and distribution of late Quaternary vegetation.
