The empirical analysis uses the Panel Study of Income Dynamics and discrete-time logistic regression models to include duration dependence, state dependence, associated events and nonstationarity in models of residential mobility for both renters
and owners. Important tenure differences are established. Discrete-time logit models of the hazard of moving are fitted by tenure group. the models are extended to include a change in household type as an associated event that increase the likelihood
General circulation models (GCMs) suggest that rising concentrations of greenhouse gases may have significant consequences for the global climate. This article reviews the present generation of downscaling tools and go on to summarize the results
of an experiment to intercompare a range of precipitation models used for downscaling. The final section examines ongoing challenges to the future development of climate downscaling.
Partially constrained gravity models for predicting spatial interactions with elastic demand

Competition ; Gravity model ; Indiana ; Origin-destination ; Public service ; Service ; Spatial interaction ; United States of America ; Urban area
The levels of spatial interactions with certain types of public services, such as libraries and recreation facilities, may vary with the total numbers of opportunities available. Two partially constrained gravity models are developed that provide
for this possibility of elastic demand. Circulation data for public libraries in Indianapolis are used to estimate the parameters of these models. The results show the presence of elasticity in the demand for library services.

Australia ; Continental margin ; Continental slope ; Drainage ; Fault ; Model ; Queensland ; Rift ; Subsidence ; Vertical movement
. This model explains the parallel structures of continental divide, present coast line, and continental edge. It also explains the creation of the basal unconformity in a short time, and the comparative volumes of onshore erosion and offshore sedimentation
. Onshore, the model explains the modifications of drainage and the great escarpments that are characteristic of passive margins.
Community ; Economic base ; Idaho ; Input-output model ; Inter-regional trade flow ; Matrix analysis ; Multiplicator ; Regional economy ; Rural area ; United States of America
Four essential features are covered. The rural area I-O model must convey an individual community focus. The household sector must be defined in a manner that captures the great openness of rural community economies. The model should offer a degree
of closure that provides an assessment of the community economic base. The model must be defined to include estimates of intercommunity trade and multiplier effects.
A residential land use model with a general landownership : existence and uniqueness of equilibrium

Distance from city centre ; Household behaviour ; Land ; Land rent ; Land use ; Model ; Residential mobility ; Spatial equilibrium ; Urban area

Dynamic model ; Model ; Simulation ; Spatial distribution ; Spatial equilibrium ; Spatial interaction ; Urban function ; Urban population ; Utility fonction
L'A. creuse les fondements théoriques du modèle de Allen et Sanglier, et y apporte de légères modifications. Il construit un modèle dynamique de population relatif à deux villes comportant différents types de fonctions urbaines. Système d'équations
Diffusion in landscape development models: on the nature of basic transport relations

Creep ; Diffusion model ; Earth surface processes ; Landslide ; Mass movement ; Methodology ; Model ; Slope
In constructing large-scale landscape development models, processes must be appropriately represented over extended scales of space and time. Suitable methods must be found for the generalization of processes that capture the essential character
of landscapes as they evolve. The diffusion equation was introduced into geomorphological reasoning for this purpose. Diffusivities estimated in this study are compared with values derived in scarp studies and values adopted in landscape development models

A one-dimensional flowline model driven by equilibrium line altitude (ELA) lowering is used to investigate the effect of basin geometry on the dynamics of 2 palaeoglaciers, Puyehue and Rupanco, which occupied adjacent valleys in southern Chile
. Model results are compared with the glacial geomorphology of the areas concerned. Specifically are investigated: the amplitude of the climatic deterioration necessary to reproduce the glacial maximum position of the 2 palaeoglaciers; the effect of valley
