- to the Mediterranean, since they are shared either by the more humid temperate climates to the north or the semi-arid regions to the south and east. The wied, a hybrid between the humid temperate and semi-arid climates, might be considered a truly Mediterranean
- With such a limited area and range of rock type, Malta cannot provide anything approaching a representative sample of the landforms which occur in the Mediterranean Basin. However, few geomorphological features can be considered unique

- Mediterranean agriculture - an agro-ecological strategy
- Agricultural practice ; Agriculture ; Agroecosystem ; Arid area ; Concept ; Irrigation ; Land use ; Mediterranean States ; Mediterranean area ; Rural landscape
- The Mediterranean region is an area of heterogeneity. Consequently the Mediterranean agriculture is an agro-ecological strategy, an adjustment to particular climatic conditions in Mediterranean zones. In traditional agriculture the components could
- be combined in an integrated system. In modern, specialized agriculture the Mediterranean agriculture to a higher degree becomes a type on a regional level. Agricultural types determine the landuse and are important for the development of rural landscapes.

- Studies of geo-ecological processes are being made along climatological transects on similar limestone rocks at different locations across the Mediterranean. The initial objectives were firstly to obtain information on relationships between climate
- conditions and soil erosion and secondly, to study the changes that occur across major eco-geomorphological zones (i.e., zones in which particular soil-water-vegetation erosion relationships exist) on limestone in a progression from humid Mediterranean

- Climatic variability ; Geochemistry ; Israel ; Leaching ; Mediterranean area ; Microclimate ; Precipitation ; Salt ; Soil ; Soil properties ; Soil water
- In this study the temporal dynamics of electrical conductivity (EC), pH, and the concentration of some soluble ions were investigated in 3 microenvironments, at 3 sites representing 3 different climatic conditions, along a climatic transect
- in Israel. The aim was to analyze the effects of soil components (local factor) and climatic conditions (regional factor) on the temporal dynamics of salt concentrations in soil.

- This paper shows the reality of clay illuviation in Red Mediterranean soils under present day environmental conditions, and examines the effects of time and climatic fluctuations during Holocene and Pleistocene on this soil forming process. Textural
- features and fabrics existing in Red Mediterranean soils are inventoried. The problem of age determination is also addressed, through the use of radiometric dates and correlation with archaeological artifacts.

- Alfisols cover 18% of the surface of the NE edge of the Garrat massif (SE of Barcelona, Catalonia). Most of these are Mediterranean red soils. Some representative pedons, especially over Mesozoic limestones, are discussed in this paper. Climate
- of the zone is littoral Mediterranean. Pedoclimatic regimes are xeric and thermic. Special attention is given to colour, Fe forms, CaCO3, clay, taxonomy, and altitudinal distribution.
