- The Mediterranean region is an area of heterogeneity. Consequently the Mediterranean agriculture is an agro-ecological strategy, an adjustment to particular climatic conditions in Mediterranean zones. In traditional agriculture the components could
- be combined in an integrated system. In modern, specialized agriculture the Mediterranean agriculture to a higher degree becomes a type on a regional level. Agricultural types determine the landuse and are important for the development of rural landscapes.
