Matematikai modszerek felhasznalhatosaga a mezogazdasagi területi elemzésekben. (Applicability of mathematicalmethods in regional agricultural analyses)
The authors evaluate the efficiency of non-formal methods (factorial analysis as a statistical and as a classification method, Berry's, Farrell's methods, the ORLINE and the gravity methods). The conclusions drawn from the use of their 14-criterion
Matematikai és statisztikai modszerek alkalmazasi lehetoségei a területi kutatasokban.. (Possible applications of mathematical and statistical methods in regional studies)
A comprehensive survey of useful mathematicalmethods in geography. The simple methods include error tests, variance analysis, measurements of relationships, regression calculation and regional inequality indicators| the multivariate methods cover
Possibility for subdividing apparently homogeneous depositional sequences by combined use of sedimentological, paleontological and mathematicalmethods
Loess-paleosol and paleoclimatic investigations. Principles, methods and criteria
An experiment is presented here, aiming at a subdivision of loess profiles by a combined use of sedimentological, palaeontological and mathematicalmethods. The loess samples, beside Katymár, near the Hungarian-Yugoslavian border, are characterised
The author distinguishes three groups of indices and methods used in expressing the rate of urbanization. The complex approach and the mathematical-statistical methods in investigating of this complicated process seems to be inevitable. - (MS)
Towards a more general theoretical and mathematical model of probability for policy analysis
Concept ; Decision ; Forecast;Prediction ; Mathematical model ; Probability ; System ; Uncertainty
Climate ; Climatic variability ; Climatic variation ; Mathematics ; Model ; Numerical model ; Simulation
Estimation ; Housing cost ; Mathematics ; Matrix analysis ; Optimization ; Spatial analysis ; United States of America
By relying on symmetric and doubly stochastic spatial basis matrices that reflect different weight specifications assigned to neighboring observations, the A. derives a mathematical expression for bounds on the log-determinant term that appears
in the likelihood function. This method is applied to a housing model using U.S. census tracts.
Using areal interpolation methods in geographic information systems
Algorithms ; Geographical information system ; Mathematics ; Spatial analysis ; United Kingdom
The approach of this paper is based on using additional information to guide the interpolation process. It emphasizes recent work applying the method to Poisson and binomially distributed data. There is also discussion of how the method can best
Multistate analysis: tables of working life in Essays in multistate mathematical demography| special IIASA issue.
Trees of the essential economic structures : a qualitative input-output method
Economic structure ; Economy ; Graph ; Industry ; Input-output model ; Mathematical model ; Mexico ; United States of America
Quantitative topographic method of fault morphology recognition
A quantitative method for morphology recognition of topographically expressed faults is developed. The method is based on the analysis of digital elevation models (DEMs). Kh mapping correspond mostly to structures like strike-slip faults, while
lineaments revealed by Kv mapping indicate mainly structures as dip-slip faults and thrusts. Some aspects of the method precision, requirements for initial data and further development of the method are discussed.
