The aim of this study is to investigate which one is more suitable by comparing the interpolation methods used in defining terrain surfaces. For this purpose, a uniform surface hill-shaped artificial object with a known volume was employed. The 3D
surface and volume are calculated by using 12 different interpolation methods. Point distribution, point intensity and accuracy of point measurements are not considered. The same data set was used for all the interpolation methods. The interpolation

Effects of interpolation errors on the analysis of DEMs
A suite of methods to interpolate a digital elevation model from a ground survey was evaluated with respect to precision and ability to maintain the shape of the original height data. The best interpolation method for this study area was found
to be a spline interpolation, which is somewhat contradictory to findings in the literature. The A. also investigates the effect of errors in height, which may be attributed to interpolation, on a sample of terrain analysis operations in order to see to what
extent the interpolation might influence the derived data from DEMs.

Application of kriging interpolation for glacier mass balance computations
This paper investigates the sensitivity of interpolation results to the choice of various kriging parameters when applying kriging interpolation for mass balance computations. In this study kriging was applied to mass balance data of Storglaciären

Manual and automated interpolation of climatic and geomorphic statistical surfaces: an evaluation
This study empirically investigates the differences between manual and automated isarithmic interpolation. It also points out potential weaknesses in current interpolation algorithms and suggests ways of handling these problems. The results shoud

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of landform types, the density of original data, and interpolation techniques on the accuracy of DEM generation. Five interpolation techniques (inverse distance weighting, ordinary kriging, universal
kriging, multiquadratic radial basis function, and regularized spline with tension), commonly used in recent geomorphological research were applied. The results indicate that the accuracy of interpolation techniques for DEM generation should be tested
