Eva Germaine Rimington Taylor, 1879-1966

and, as such, was the first female professor of geography in the British Isles. She pioneered research into the history of geographical thought and practice, submitted important evidence on the location of industrial activity, which would be of value in national planning
holding part-time lectureships in London. In 1921, she joined the staff of Birkbeck College, in the University of London, where she would spend the rest of her career. In 1930, she was appointed to the chair of geography in that college
