characteristics of climatic change in this region were analyzed using climatic linear trend, Sen’s Slope Estimates and Mann-Kendall Test analysis methods. This paper focuses only on the southern slope and attempts to compare the results with those from
the northern slope to clarify the characteristics and trends of climatic change in the Mt. Qomolangma region. The results show the barrier effect of the Himalayas as a whole and Mt. Qomolangma in particular.

to 2007 respectively. The changes in the parameters for the 2 periods are revealed to explore the impact of climate change on these parameters. While the annual means and the amplitudes of the seasonal cycle show a clear change, the interannual variability
, the timings of the seasonal cycles, and the temporal correlations for each variable remain practically unchanged. This indicates that climate changes in China over the last 57 years are mainly reflected in variations in the means and in the strength
of the seasonal cycles. The changed parameters have implications for the stationary assumption implied in the parameter estimation and use of the weather generator for climate change studies.

This article advances a vulnerability framework to understand how climatic risks and change are experienced and responded to by Inuit harvesters using a case study from Iqaluit, Nunavut. Results indicate that sea ice conditions are changing rapidly
of the Inuit socioecological system is indicative of high adaptive capacity to future change and indicates that climate change might pose more serious risks to the harvesting sector than previously assumed.

This paper adopts a technique common in the dynamical climate modelling literature, that of pattern scaling, and applies it to previously available statistically downscaled station level data for Ireland for two climatically relevant variables
, that of temperature and precipitation. This technique allows for the rapid development of climate scenarios for additional emissions scenarios not previously available from the GCM modelling centres. On the basis of the Monte Carlo approach, probability distribution
This study examines patterns of climate variability by mapping shoreline changes between 1973 and 2008 for 2 shallow lakes in Malawi. Multi-temporal LANDSAT data covering 8 different years within the period of investigation were utilised for lake
and that, although the lakes were affected by the same climate-forcing mechanisms, the individual basin characteristics had a critical effect on their responses. The most likely drivers for the climate-related shoreline variations are the El Niño/Southern Oscillation
(ENSO) and the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD), causing synchronous changes to the water levels in both lakes, albeit showing differences in climate signal amplification.
Response of water resources to climate change and its future trend in the source region of the Yangtze River

In this paper, variations of surface water flow and its climatic causes in China are analyzed using hydrological and meteorological observational data, as well as the impact data set (version 2.0) published by the National Climate Center in November
2009. The results indicate that surface water resources showed an increasing trend in the source region of the Yangtze River over the past 51 years, especially after 2004. The trend was very clearly shown. Based on global climate model prediction
, in the SRESA1B climate change scenarios, water resources are likely to increase in this region for the next 20 years.

The AA. present a basic assessment of current topoclimatic conditions as a site characterization for ongoing ecological climate change studies. To be able to link short-term studies with long-term climate records, they related agrometeorological
measurements with those of surrounding long-term sites run by MeteoSwiss, both on valley bottoms (Davos, Samedan), and on mountain tops (Weissfluhjoch, Piz Corvatsch). The AA. found that the Davos climate station is most closely correlated with the local
climate of Alp Weissenstein. Mountain top stations, however, did not provide a convincing approximation for the climate at Alp Weissenstein. Direct comparisons of near-surface measurements from a set of 11 small weather stations distributed over the domain
