The present work should be regarded as the first attempt to classify and characterize some basic terms on karstgeomorphology in Bulgaria. The autors inform briefly about the discussions during the international spelaeological congresses for working
out and adoption of universal karst terminology, arbitrary signs and symbols. They mention the most significant publications dealing with this problem. Twenty two basic terms of surface karst together with their thirty three varieties are defined which
for the sake of greater clarity fall under two thematic groups: A) Main forms of surface karst| B) Main types of surface karst in Bulgaria. Definitions are given for each term in Bulgarian, Russian, English, French and German. Besides, some widely spread karst
forms in our country are called by their local folk names. Part of the karst forms are illustrated by schematic maps. There is a key of twenty four arbitrary signs and symbols for mapping the basic surface karst forms. (Ed.).
The paper presents the locally variable impacts of hydrothermal processes and provides explanations for the hydrothermal karst in the mountains. According to the A. neither dripstone formation, nor the major cave systems carved out by the mechanical
erosion of streams can be excluded from among karst phenomena. Author regards the Buda Hills (Hungary) a prototype of hydrothermal karst. - (JS)

An outline of development of ideas on the karst typology published in the world literature with comparison to opinions of the Czechoslovak karst investigators of geological, geomorphological, hydrological, biological and regional points of views

This paper presents results of geomorphological and hydrological investigations carried on in selected catchments basins of western Cuba. They represent two types of the tropical karst : classical upland karst of the Sierra de los Organos (catchment
basin of the Cuyaguateje river) and an isolated limestone massif of the Pan de Guajaibon. The values of contemporary chemical denudation being the coefficient of geomorphological activity, have been calculated in several catchment basins.

One of the major ongoing projects in Slovenia was to link the country with motorways. Almost half of Slovenia is karst and more than half of its supply of water comes from karst aquifers. Karstologists have been involved in planning and construction
of motorways. We have acquired a lot of information about surface karst phenomena and the epikarst, vadose zone and the paleokarst. During the construction works we researched newly discovered features and tried to preserve as many as possible. - (IKR)

The primary goal of this paper is to offer a standard yet flexible approach to karst environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and to show how geomorphological methods can be used to develop more comprehensive and quantifiable EIAs in karst areas
. The following strategy is based on a detailed study of over 700 caves and 650 karst features along the southeastern margin of the Edwards Plateau, Texas, USA, and is also supported by additional karst research and observations in several states and countries.

This paper explains why limestone is such an important commodity, examines the technique by which it is excavated, the geomorphological impacts of those techniques, and describes how such impacts may be minimised. It is based largely on research
Krasovy reliéf a jeho vyznam v geomorfologickom obraze Zapadnych Karpat. (Karst relief and its significance in the geomorphological picture of the West Carpathians)
The well-preserved karst plateaus, the correlation between covering formations and further marks enable to recognize the development of levelled surfaces today lying in different positions within the neotectonic division of the West-Carpathians. (MS).
L'A. s'intéresse à une dépression karstique située au sud ouest des Carpates et au cône de Ostra Skala (970 m). L'A. identifie le cône comme étant un relief résiduel de karst en boule d'âge crétacé.
