This paper deals with an application of geomorphological methods such as morphostructural analysis, detailed geomorphological mapping and computer analysis in the Geographical Information System ARC/INFO, in the field and discusses their application
at the building trade, ecology, etc. The A. applied them to geomorphological research in the northeastern part of the Hercynian Bohemian Highlands.
It is suggested that the global sustainability debate would benefit from more active participation by geomorphologists and that geomorphology would itself benefit by embracing sustainable development research more explicitly. Agenda 21's action
programs, comprising 40 priority research areas, is seen to require geomorphological expertise; it is also argued that solutions to the identified problems can only be anticipated through interdisciplinary collaboration.
Il ya 4 principaux types demontagnes arides : les montagnesde désert (extra-arides), les montagnesdes piedmonts, les montagnes élevées et les montagnes arctiques. Leur développement a lieu sous l'effet de l'activité éolienne, de la
saprolitisation et de la desquamation. Dans les montagnes arides, on observe deux principaux types morphologiques de paysages : les montagnes réelles et les montagnes en ruines.

The geomorphology and geomorphological history of the Velence mountains, which are strongly denuded and fragmented and of low-medium height, is elaborated on. The structure of the mountains are analysed along with the denudation process. - (JS)
