Geographers are frequently enjoined to identify and satisfy the interests of their audience. They must recognize the existence of multiple audiences. These audiences are constituted by rhetorical prejudices and preferences. Two alternative maps
of geographical audiences are presented, using selected examples from 20th century Anglophone geography. The A. describes prejudices about the nature of action, and preferences for types of representation.
